Power Outages
Report a Power Outage
To report a power outage within the ERTH Power service territory, please call 1-877-850-3128 and we will send our service team to investigate.
Planned Outages
Planned power outages are sometimes necessary to perform critical maintenance, repairs or infrastructure upgrades. This work helps to improve the safety and reliability of the electricity distribution system. If a planned outage is necessary, our operations team carefully schedules the outage to minimize the disruption to residents and businesses (usually during the early hours of the morning when most people are sleeping).
Before a scheduled planned outage takes place, we make sure to notify all affected customers. We also contact facilities or businesses that may be particularly impacted by the outage, such as hospitals, long-term care homes, factories and grocery stores
Unplanned Outages
Unplanned power outages can occur at any time for a number of reasons, such as adverse weather conditions, construction damage, fallen trees, traffic accidents, equipment failure, or loss of supply. ERTH Power systems and protocols are in place to ensure that unplanned outages are minimal. If an unplanned power outage occurs, our experienced team of line workers is dispatched to investigate and restore power as quickly and safely as possible.
Preparing for Power Outages
Major Outages
When a major event occurs in our service territory, ERTH Power compiles a report which is submitted to our regulator, the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) within 60 days of the occurrence. These reports detail ERTH Power’s response to the major event.
