Ontario Electricity Support Program (OESP)

What is the Ontario Electricity Support Program (OESP)?

The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) is helping make electricity more affordable for low-income households. The Ontario Electricity Support Program (OESP) is an OEB program that lowers electricity bills for lower-income households. The OESP provides a monthly credit to eligible customers based on household income and household size. The OESP credits are applied directly to eligible customers’ bills.

For some consumers, the need to use more electricity is unavoidable; therefore, they may receive a higher level of assistance. These include people who rely on electric heat or medical devices as well as First Nation or Métis consumers.

Who is eligible?

The OESP is open to residential customers only and customers must apply to the program.
